IT Employment Grows by 6000 Jobs in January 2011
According to a monthly index of IT jobs developed and published by TechServe Alliance, year-over-year IT employment in January was up 4.5 percent, compared to only a 0.8 percent increase in total non-farm employment. The pattern of month-over-month growth in IT employment continued by adding more than 6000 jobs in January. You can get more details here.

The Q4 Yoh Index of Employer Demand for IT Skills Turns Positive
According to the Q4 results of the Yoh Index of Technology Wages survey, the demand for technology skills finally turned positive after retreating for all three months in the third quarter of 2010 with hourly wages jumping 4.31 percent from November 2010 to December 2010:
While year-over-year numbers still showed decline, the uptick, which was strongest in December, was particularly encouraging due to its timing. December is typically a time of slackened demand for highly skilled workers due to seasonal lulls in the hiring of highly trained and paid technicians. IT Salaries Expected to rise 3.4% in 2011
As reported on ComputerWorld, Robert Half Technology reports in its newly released Salary Guide 2011 that IT salaries are expected to rise 3.4% in 2011. Leading the pack in the various categories being reported upon are SAP development skills where they recommend adding an additional 8% to IT salaries for such professionals.
In general, those having ERP skills are expected to be among the largest salary increase winners in the new year, ie:
- ERP Business Analyst: +5.1%
- ERP Technical/Functional Analyst: +5%
- ERP Technical Developer: +5.2%
